Stream Fishing Seminar (July 24) What’s available on the Outdoor News Service site? FISHING REPORTS – We have the most comprehensive and up-to-date fishing reports for Southern California available on the Internet. Our freshwater report covers virtually every major water in the region, from Bridgeport to Otay, from Havasu to Nacimiento. It is updated each and every week with information from marinas, tackle shops, readers, and other sources. Best of all, we compile all the information in one place so you don’t have to spend hours combing through forums to glean a few gems about the fishing and what bait or tactics have been hot. Give us five minutes and we’ll give you all the news you need to know about fishing in this region, and tell you what we think are the top three fishing bets in Southern California each week. Our fishing reports have been used in Southern California newspapers’ outdoor sections since 1978, and our web site is the only place you can read complete versions of this fishing report. Bottom line? Our Southern California fishing reports are accurate, consistent, and reliable. WEEKLY NEWS UPDATES – Our weekly outdoor news package, including Jim Matthews’ award-winning outdoor column that many of you read in local newspapers throughout Southern California, is posted on our web site in its complete and uncut form. The most important outdoor news from the region is right here in one place, and the package has a comprehensive outdoor calendar and listing of clubs and organizations and when they meet. Like our fishing report, the information is updated each week. WATERFOWL HUNTING REPORTS – The Outdoor News Service is one of the last places where you can read the results from public waterfowl hunting areas in Southern California. The results are updated each week during the waterfowl season so you can track the number and type of birds using local wildlife areas where hunting is allowed. SUBSCRIPTIONS – You can sign up to receive free e-mail notifications and summaries when our fishing reports, outdoor news and commentary package, and waterfowl reports are updated each week. BIRD HUNTERS – The Outdoor News Service also publishes Western Birds, The Wingshooter’s Newsletter. Quite simply, it is the most detail bird hunting scouting report published in the world. Western Birds gives avid upland bird hunters information they can use in the field: spring, water tank, guzzler coordinates, maps of hunting areas that show where we’ve found birds, brood count data and trends, and more. We are like your best hunting buddy, giving you a map with Xs on it that show the best places to hunt. We tell you where to hunt. Exactly where. No other publication does that. The newsletter has been published since 1996, and we have given directions, maps, and GPS coordinates to over 600 places to hunt gamebirds in Southern California. We devote most of our time and space to quail, chukar, and dove hunting locations on public lands, but the newsletter has covered the best blind sites at public waterfowl hunting areas, ptarmigan hunting locations in the Sierra Nevada, snipe hunting spots in Southern California, and more. While our coverage has almost exclusively focused on the southern half of California, starting in 2010, the newsletter will expand its coverage in Arizona and Nevada, and within two years, it will be including top hunting spots in all the Western states.
